THE GREEN FLASH

If you are really lucky you may see a green sunset flash in Broome.  It is very rare and you must get the exact weather conditions to see it.  When the sun sets a brief green flash follows.  I have only seen this phenomenon twice since I have been in Broome.  There are many web sites on this - just put 'green flash' in google and also search for 'green flash' images.

GOLDEN STAIRCASE TO THE MOON

About four times each year, when conditions are just right, visitors to Broome in the North West region are treated to a natural spectacle – the Staircase to the Moon.

It occurs when nature combines extreme low tides, a clear, black night and brilliant full moon.

The result is a trick of the eye where the reflected light of the full moon plays across the exposed ripples of the damp sea floor creating the vision of a brilliant white staircase rising to the moon.
