MOVEMENTS OF JUGUN YAWURU PEOPLE

The Jugun Yawuru people moved constantly throughout their land. Their movements were determined by seasonal change and by the availability of water and food.

As the clouds gathered and Mankala approached, people would move inland to avoid the Wirdu Wangal (cyclones) and to take advantage of the abundant warli (meat food), bush fruits and yams. Water is plentiful now and Jibilyurr(duck from the Anatidae family) and other water birds attracted to the region mark good eating.
