Slide 6:

Hot periods follow the first storms. This is caused by the dry hot earth being cooled and the hot rising air being unable to escape due to cloud cover.

Slide 7:

The rain soon sets in. There is no thunder and lightning just heavy rain and strong winds. Sometimes cyclones occur and the winds become stronger than ever.

Slide 8:

The rain soften the ground enables young shoots to push their way to grow.

Slide 9:

The young Darlab (Brachychiton diversifolius- northern kurrajong) shoots, or Junjadany, are easily dug out of the soft soil. They may be eaten raw or cooked in the coals.

Slide 10:

There is abundant plant growth. The Yurrgulu (Themeda australis- kangaroo grass) grows rapidly and soon reaches great heights. Their thickness and spearhead- like seeds make walking in the bush a dreaded task.
