ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES:

Students must know:

  1. when they will be assessed

  2. on what they will be assessed

  3. how they will be assessed (type of assessment tasks)

  4. the weighting given to the various assessment tasks

  5. the significance of failure to complete assessment tasks

  6. they must retain complete folios of work and assessments as evidence

In general

  1. students are made aware of the assessment outline when starting the subject or unit

  2. the criteria for assessing achievement are given to students

  3. students are provided with timely feedback on the assessment tasks, including the standards upon which achievement demonstrated on the task has been assessed.

  4. students are given the opportunity to discuss application of the assessment, particularly about concerns the student or teacher may have towards assessments.

  5. parents/guardians are advised in writing of any decisions made regarding assessment e.g. receiving a 'U'.

  6. wherever possible, students are provided with an additional opportunity to complete the assessment requirements.
