After Corey left St. Mary's College at the end of year 11 he boarded in Nudgee College Brisbane to complete his final year of schooling. He learnt to play Rugby and said he found it easier than Aussie rules football. Later he returned to Broome and took up an Automotive Electrical apprenticeship. This does involve a study component where he has to travel down to Perth twice a year for a 3 week course. He is currently in his second year of a 4 year course with the goal of becoming a fully qualified Air-conditioning Installer and maintenance person. His job gives him a lot of satisfaction and he usually works a ten hour day from 7am until 5:30pm. Corey plays back pocket for Cable Beach Football Club. His ultimate goal is to own his own business. Corey has a daughter named Arlia who is now 4 months old.
